Back in November, Star Wars Battlefront 2 earned the unenviable achievement of becoming one of the most loathed games of 2017. And with good reason. There have been plenty of articles written on the loot box controversy over the past few weeks, so we’re not going to be talking too much about it here. Suffice it to say that EA is currently attempting to make some sort of reparations and fix some of the damage done. Not an easy thing to pull off, mind you. The latest step towards that goal comes in the form of a newly announced update, which introduces a number of changes to the in-game Credits system.
The latest update for Star Wars Battlefront 2 was announced earlier today by EA and focuses on three main aspects. Firstly, the company announced that multiplayer matches will now yield more Credits. Right off the bat, all players will be able to gain more credits thanks to this change. However, the top ranking players from each team will get to reap the most benefits according to the company. Previously, the difference between winning a match and coming in dead last in Star Wars Battlefront 2 was pretty negligible. Needless to say, this change should make a lot of players happy. Especially the good ones. After all, good performance should be rewarded accordingly.
Multiplayer aside, the update also introduces an important change to the Arcade mode. The mode will soon allow players to earn up to three times more Credits per day. Namely, 1,500 credits. That said, it’s worth pointing out that the cheapest crate in Star Wars Battlefront 2 costs 2,200 credits. In other words, grinding is still very much an important part of the game. Finally, EA says that Daily Login Crates will drop more crafting parts from now on. Unfortunately, the company didn’t reveal any specific figures so we don’t know if this is a significant increase. Probably not.
With The Last Jedi just around the corner, EA took the opportunity to remind players that new content for Star Wars Battlefront 2 is also coming soon. As one might expect, the main highlight here is the movie tie-in DLC. Suitably named Star Wars Battlefront 2 The Last Jedi Season, the DLC comes with new heroes, maps, vehicles and more. The content will unlock gradually over the next few weeks all throughout December.
The new update will start rolling out tomorrow December 5th on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Same goes for Star Wars Battlefront 2 The Last Jedi Season. The update will be available to everyone on all platforms. As for the DLC, only those with an EA account, Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus membership (depending on your platform) will be able to play the new content.
